** BAnQ est Wiki

Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ) organizes a series called “BAnQ est Wiki” during which several workshops are hosted about Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects.

Since May is Comic Book Month, BAnQ invites you to celebrate this special moment dedicated to the art of images and words by joining specialists from BAnQ and the Grande Bibliothèque to discover how to contribute to Wikipedia articles on Quebec's ninth art, using BAnQ's catalog, article databases and Quebec's digital heritage resources. The event is part of the Montreal Comics Festival and is organized in collaboration with Wikimedia Canada. The online workshop will take place on May 26th at 4pm (Eastern time). To celebrate International Geeks' Day, BAnQ, the Université Laval Library and the Service du greffe et des archives de la Ville de Québec invite you to a special edition of the Jeudi, c’est wiki à Québec (https://wikimedia.us18.list-manage.com/track/click?u=29c1f1c45dc917d8c6939fa4c&id=54b8adf1c2&e=51e7f1452b!) workshops. This workshop will focus on expanding Wikipedia's French-language content on the American comic book culture. Everyone is welcome, and beginners will be able to benefit from personalized coaching and assistance. Door prizes will be offered by the Première Issue bookstore in Quebec City. The online workshop will take place on May 27 at 4:30 pm (Eastern time). Note that this event is in French only. ** Wikimedia Canada’s Annual General Meeting

Wikimedia Canada will hold its Annual General Membership meeting of the members on Monday, May 31, 2021 at 7pm (Eastern time, which is between 4pm. and 8:30pm in the rest of the country). The meeting will be held online via video conference. All members are invited to participate.

At the meeting, members will have the opportunity to:
* find out about Wikimedia Canada’s activities and finances,
* ask questions about the activities and finances of Wikimedia Canada,
* speak about any items on the agenda, and
* vote on any resolutions proposed.

At the meeting, members will be asked to vote to:
* accept the minutes of the last Annual General Meeting,
* accept the 2020 annual financial statements, and
* elect directors.

An article titled Wikipedia’s diversity gap echoes around the Internet. Here’s what local groups are doing to help (https://wikimedia.us18.list-manage.com/track/click?u=29c1f1c45dc917d8c6939fa4c&id=d6e03a17e0&e=51e7f1452b) has been published by Toronto Star. In it, they present the project of Takara Small who founded VentureKids Canada aiming at teaching students how to become Wikipedia contributors, specifically by collaboratively creating and improving articles about Canadian women or people of colour from the technology field.
